Amfar Gala LA mit Madonna, Milla Jovovich, Meg Ryan, Alessandra Ambrosio, Matthias Scheighöfer + Ruby O. Fee & One Republic
07.11.2021 | In Hollywood im Westen von Los Angeles wird nach dem Lockdown auch wieder kräftig gefeiert. Am Freitag etwa sammelte die Hilfsorganisation Amfar wieder einmal bei einer Benefiz-Gala für den Kampf gegen AIDS, wobei über 1,7 Millionen US-Dollar zusammenkamen. Schauspielerin Milla Jovovich eröffnete den Abend, indem sie daran erinnerte, dass sich die Unterstützung der Dinner-Gäste direkt auf die HIV-Forschung auswirkt. Höhepunkt des Abends war die Verleihung des Award of Courage durch die legendäre Madonna an ihren engen Freund Jeremy Scott für sein langjähriges Engagement für Amfar. Die Pop-Diva riss die Gäste von den Sitzen, als sie über Erfahrungen mit der Krankheit sowie über ihre Freundschaft mit Scott sprach. Die 63-Jährige wies auch auf die verheerenden Folgen der Covid-Pandemie hin und betonte, wie wichtig es sei, weiter für eine Sache zu kämpfen, die noch lange nicht vorbei ist: Jedes Jahr infizieren sich weltweit noch immer 1,5 Millionen Menschen neu mit AIDS. Der Geehrte hielt eine emotionale Dankesrede und erzählte von den Herausforderungen, denen er sich gegenübersah, als er während der AIDS-Epidemie im Mittleren Westen aufwuchs. Die TikTok-Größe Addison Rae überreichte einen zweiten Preis an die Videoplattform.
Unter Stars wie Meg Ryan, Alessandra Ambrosio & Paris Jackson mischten sich auch unsere deutschen bzw. Berliner Schauspiel-Größen Matthias Scheighöfer + seine Freundin Ruby O. Fee! Beide machten in ihren auffälligen Outfits eine gute Figur & stahlen so mancher der Hollywood-Diven fast die Schau. In Los Angeles war das Paar für die Premiere seines neuen Netflix-Streifens "Army of Thieves", die kurz zuvor über die Bühne gegangen war. Nun lauschten sie bei dem Dinner unter freiem Himmel OneRepublic & Bebe Rexha, die das Publikum mit ihren Hits von den Stühlen rissen. Das Event umfasste auch eine erfolgreiche Live-Auktion, die Simon de Pury durchführte.
